Grade-In! Estimated 100 teachers in the Spotsylvania Towne Centre promoting awareness of all the work teachers do outside of school hours. Although fewer than anticipated, it was enough to get people talking. Each table of teachers had a “table tent” inviting the public to ask questions, and each tent had a different fact about teacher work requirements. I heard mixed reports on the amount of questions we were asked, but the general feeling from participants was positive.

My table had two people stop by to talk. One was a young girl sent over by her father to investigate and report back. The other was a woman asking what did we think we were doing. Seems having a place to sit was more important to her than learning about education. We invited her to sit, explained our goals, but she still walked away feeling angry. Can’t make everyone happy (and for what it’s worth, there were plenty of places to sit, and all teachers were patronizing the food court restaurants).
