How SOPA Would Kill Art & Creativity Online →
coolcatteacher:
SOPA and the impact on online art. if this is really the case, SOPA is looking worse all the time. It is time to use the old fashioned phne call and call our Congressmen and Senators. Time tomlet our voices be heard on this one. the fact is tha phone calls tend to carry more weight than email. As someone whonused to answer phones for a US Senator in DC, I know this to be true....

Sometimes, my entertainment issues tend to bog down my educational blog. So as not to bombard my teacher counterparts, I have created this separate blog. Follow if you’re interested. If not, it’s cool. I won’t hold it against you. But in case you’re wondering what I post about, some of my current entertainment obsessions include, but are NOT limited to: -...

Our fortune cookies...
John: Only by acceptance of the past, can you alter it. What the heck does that mean?
Me: That by accepting what has happened to you can you move on to bigger and better future. To make changes in the way live if you have to.
John: I still don't get it.
Me: Enhance your karma by engaging in various charitable activities. I guess I need to donate to charity more.
Haley: Everyone needs to be loved, especially those who do not deserve it.
John: That doesn't make sense. I wouldn't love the people who don't deserve it.
Me: But those are the people that need it the most. Kill them with kindness.
Ryu: Everything you do, you do to make your heart sing.
Cathy: That's true. That's a good fortune.
Me: Sure is. If you don't love what you do, then why are you doing it?

Had THE best surprise today...
… my little sister who lives out in Las Vegas with her family, came in to town today! I mean, I think the surprise was more for my mother but it was still a nice surprise. They came into town last night and had planned on going over to my older sister’s house, but their stop at her in-laws took longer than she expected it to. So, she missed us last night for Christmas.
She contacted...

Girl with a Lesson Plan: Why Do People Call It... →
mentalflossr:
Lots of people think the X in Xmas is a secular watering down of the word Christ. You know, “we love to celebrate the holiday but don’t believe in Jesus,” sort of thing. But that’s not the case.
The X actually comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter…
I never knew that.

It's the last day of school before Winter Break......
and I am giving my kids today a quiz. One class already took their quiz and there’s still 10 minutes left before the end of the block. I could’ve been a really mean teacher and gave them homework, but I didn’t.
Semester 1 exams have been eliminated so I can just continue on with my lessons. T- minus 3 hours until the end of the school day. I have a study hall and another level...

It's my planning block...
and I am covering a Music Theory class for the band director who needed to leave early for a doctor’s appointment.
I really don’t mind covering the class though because the kids in this class are quite all right. They are so talented and they amaze, so I don’t mind being in here with them. Plus, I get to hear piano music being played so that the student can verify that his...

…Do I see the word “batch” refer to people. As in, “We graduated in the same batch,” or “She was my batch-mate in college.” When I think batch, I think cookies. Maybe “batch” refers to sweet, awesome things.
…Do I hear “fetch” also refer to people. As in:
(Phone rings) “Hello?” “Hello, may I speak to the lady of the house, please?” “Hold on, I will fetch my wife.”
When I hear...
